Writing

I recently turned in book 2 and have started a 3rd Medical. I have to be honest, book 2 was a bit of a struggle for me. I'm not sure if it was getting past the 2nd book hump or what, but I really stressed that book. Perhaps with good reason as I've not heard back from my editor yet. I do think it's a good story, but what really matters is what she thinks, eh? Anyway, I'm having fun with book 3 and hit page 50 last night and thought, "Oh crap! I don't have any internal conflict." So I was chatting with a writing pal and she asked me what the book was about and I told her and she pointed out that I had a lot of IC. Not only that, but I'd set it up to where it was easy to add more external conflict, also. BUT I DIDN'T SEE ANY OF IT. LOL. Just goes to show that we writers really can be too close to our work. After our chat last night, I'm itching to dig in and get lots written. Unfortunately life has a way of interfering, though. Work (darn bills that have to be paid!), kids (okay, so they are cute and cuddly, but still!), and exercise (yes, I'm still trying to get back to walking routinely despite the bum knee that's slowly, slowly healing). Off to try to find a quiet corner to get lost in my make-believe world of Montgomery Medical. :)

Good lord, woman... how can you possibly write so fast??? I tend to write a few pages at a time, and go over and over and over them until I feel like they're perfect. Then I go over them again the next day before writing anything new. It's like "two steps forward, one step back" - I get there eventually but it takes me longer!

Revisions are even worse, which is what I'm in the middle of now. :)

Good luck with Book #2!

I am not "Anonymous" - this is Terri. Your blog settings are strange and now want me to sign in with Google, but I don't use Google!

Sorry. I changed over to the new blogger and am trying to decide if I like it or not. It's supposed to be better, but I occassionally have trouble signing in now too.

On the writing fast. Terri, you have to remember that the books you're writing are twice the length of what I just turned in as book #2. So, when I say I'm 1/4th into book #3, that means I'm over 50 pages, not over 100 pages. So I'm not nearly as fast as what you're giving me credit for---although I wish I was. :)

And I hear ya on revisions. I expect to be doing those on book #2 very soon.

Good luck on your revisions, btw!!! I can't wait until your books hit the shelves & the whole world knows what a fabulous writer you are! NY TIMES here Terri comes!!!

Google smoogle. LOL. I switched over too thinking it was supposed to be better, the jury is still out on that one. It's a pain in the behind having to sign in a million different ways with the blogs I read.

ANYWAY...

Wow lady - I don't care how much you argue - you are the speed writing queen. You wrote a whole book (even if it was a short one) and what have I done the last month or so? LOL - I'm not telling cuz it's not good.

I'm sure it will be great though - can't wait to read it!
